Why every payment deserves a receipt
A receipt is the cheapest dispute insurance a landlord can have. When a tenant says "bayad na po ako" and you say otherwise, the only thing that settles it is a record. A complete receipt shows the month covered, the exact amount, and how it was paid, so partial payments and back rent never turn into he-said-she-said.
- Number your receipts so gaps are easy to spot and your records stay in order.
- Write the month covered, not just the date paid. This is what prevents most disputes.
- Record the reference number for GCash, Maya, and bank transfers so payments can be traced.
- Mark partial payments clearly with the remaining balance, and issue another receipt when it is settled.
